History of a lost Love
About

You are cordially invited to the DANCE FESTIVAL where dance meets music, where the history of music & dance meets the dancers of today, where festivals of MAMBO & SALSA meet festivals of ARGENTINE TANGO & BALLROOM, KIZOMBA, BACHATA and JAZZ, SWING & LINDY HOP. Everything is happening in a glamourous environment of black & white films.

3 amazing days of WORKSHOPS and 3 special nights of parties with an atmosphere just like in the movies. These are all dedicated to GUESTS of all kinds: those who don’t dance as well as BEGINNER dancers and of course EXPERIENCED DANCERS, too! Special nights of PARTIES with mostly acoustic music, plus great names sustaining SHOWS, MOVIE projections, international artists and national instructors, the ones who keep the old secrets alive!

4 Special rooms for workshops & parties:
  • Latin Music (Mambo & Salsa & Bachata)
  • Argentine Tango Music (Clasic, Nuevo, Milonga) & Ballroom cortinas
  • African & Cape Verdean Music (Kizomba & Semba)
  • Swing & Jazz Music (Lindy Hop & Charleston)
We will explore connection, movements, musicality and history across different dance disciplines. Throughout the environment that we have created for you for 3 days and 3 nights, we will be telling you a NEVERENDING STORY and show you EMOTION from MOTION.

Testimonials
ARTISTS FROM HlLDF 2014
Finally, after many days, I am able to sit down and share my thoughts about my wonderful life adventure: my trip to Bucharest including participation in History of a lost Love DANCE Festival. I am very grateful that life has brought me opportunities such as this one! My thanks to every participator of this festival who really understood the value of La Época!!! Thank you very much for your interest and for your beautiful words of affirmation which are very much appreciated! I am very pleased to hear how much your experiences with La Época have opened your minds! It is exactly our mission! Continue your development, all the best on this way! Huge thanks, Sara & La Época
SARA KRAWCZYK Dancer, Actress, principal member of "I am Mambo" team and "La Época"
I am happy to be in the 2nd edition of a History of a lost Love Dance Festival.. I want to thank Ioana and all her team for such a great experience last year.I know this year will be much better and hope to see many salseros there with us.. See you soon ATACA CHICHOOOOOOOOOOO...
PEDRO GÓMEZ International instructor in Salsa on Clave & on1 & on2
Dear Ioana Lupescu & your entire time, Dear Bucharest, Dear Romania, I am unable to express enough my deepest gratitude for believing "La Época" - for valuing what "La Época" provides and represents..... Ioana, you and your entire team were well-organized; you care about your community of dancers; you meticulously organized so much and it was beautifully done.” “To all the dancers who attended the workshops - this festival is on your shoulders. Your presence demonstrated your willingness to learn and develop. I wish you only continued growth!! To all the dancers who attended the parties - Tango and Ballroom and Mambo & Salsa and Bachata & Kizomba - you gave this festival more and more energy. Thank you for the dances.”
LA ÉPOCA Musician, Director, Film Producer, International Instructor
“Mircea Eliade was saying in the “History of Religions” that is really necesary for us not to know exactly the chronology of the movie, the events and currents history, believes and religious ideas, but mostly TO UNDERSTAND THEIR MORPHOLOGY, the process of historical “transformation”... “History of a lost Love” is more than a history of dance written in black&white, it is a morphology where every piece of the puzzle is influencing the next one and brings you up to the STATE OF WONDER! ....And, as you all know, wisdom starts with wonder!
LUCIAN STAN Argentine Tango Teacher & Dancer
MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC
We are very grateful that we have had the opportunity to meet such a powerful artist as you, Josué. When we expose our creations on stage, we artists, expose ourselves, and our only desire is to touch and inspire people. If we succeed in doing so merely for one person than our presence on the stage made sense. Your artistic creation and interpretation are unique! Hope to see you again in Romania!
GEORGE DICE, regarding La Época in HlLDF 2014
A big thank you from a romanian heart! You do and you love! You love what you do, you do what you love! That is inspiration for me! Let us dance more, hug more, forgive more, cherish more, be More: thank you, Sara and Josué, La Época, for reminding us this!!! It was a huge pleasure to meet you (n.r.Sara Krawczyk)!!! You are a wonderful person with heart & soul! I love the way you dance!!! It is a huge pleasure to see you on the dance floor! And I am very excited that I had a chance to experience with you my first Tango, thank you!
LUCIAN STAN, regarding La Época & Sara Krawczyk in HlLDF 2014
CONGRATULATIONS for EVERYTHING: idea, concept, courage, commitment, implication, love for dance (of course, for some of us it is not only “lost” love) My option has been a FULL PASS at this event, and so it was my presence. If I had been present at only part of it, for sure I would have not understood completely the story which was told and the infos would have not be completed, as they gathered in the final”

ABOUTautograph
“History of a lost Love”, for me, is a personal experience. I lived it, I valued it and I wanted it to be shared. It is all about Love, Life, Experience and Values. It is about how I cherish Past so I can Live the Present and see in the Future. It is not about me, but about all my experiences which I had in my life. I see people and, I see music and dancers and I can feel their stories and emotions and how their History marqued their Present and how they will build their Future with the choices they make in.

Well-known for his funny and more than friendly approach in teaching, with more then 30 years of experience, he is one of the most respected Salsa teachers, who brought this style in Europe in 1986.

His unique style of teaching turns in short time a BEGINNER into a person who can enjoy dance as much as an advanced dancer, and turns an ADVANCED DANCER into a musical, elegant, improved one.

His BEGINNERS class:

In History of a lost Love Dance Festival 2016 he will be teaching 3 workshops with themes appropriate for every level and represent Salsa in the Q & A Friday HlLDF conference held for the festival's public.

"Inside me is me... outside me is something else... but still me as well...

If I start to tell you what I did... or what I can do... or what I thing that I can do... I will tell the truth, I will probably lie, I will probably tell what you want to hear... I don’t know... I will try to impress as much as I can...etc..., but let’s skip this for now... this “CV thing”... this does not mean that I do not value the “CV”... yours or my...In fact, I do value it! For sure! ...more than anybody else...simple because I do value what life gave or is giving me until now... and that is beautiful...

In fact, the point is what I am going to share with you... I just want to reduce your expectation about myself or anything else which can make you “blind”...

Related to Kizomba I would like to say something:

I did develop my own way (methodology) of dance, teaching and living Kizomba... which I name it “Bodhi Kizomba. Get inspired”...

Related to Kaizen Dance®, it came from my masters, angels and guides through me... I love creativity... and will always allow it in my daily life... because when you stop create your art died... and then you loose the connection with divinity... I would love to have you here with all your heart open... able to receive and to share with us the moment... for us to be able to enjoy the art of dance... for us to enjoy the energy of every single person beside us... I want you to focus on the journey... the art in general... not just part of me, of my past... what I did...or what I can do... but in what I am now with you... in this moment... which is simple ME... Kwenda Lima! Thank you so much!"

"We do not teach you how to dance Tango, we teach you how to move. Once we teach you how to move, and you learn, we say - listen, in Tango this is what you need to do"

Ivan is from Mendoza, Argentina, where he started his artistic career as a soloist at 12 years of age. He was trained by his parents Eduardo Terrazas and Beatriz Herrera in competition Malambo and other forms of Argentine Folklore, as well as classical ballet and Argentine Tango. Upon his arrival in the United States, Ivan added salsa and tap to his repertoire, working with Eddie Torres (the Mambo King) and being part of his “Compania de Mambo” .

Kinetic since an early age, Sara studied regional folklore dance and classical ballet technique in Zagreb, Croatia. Her obsession with Argentine Tango started in the late 1990s at the milonga, and she subsequently learned Argentine folklore. In order to better understand body mechanics and to teach movement technique, Sara also became a Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® instructor.

Ivan and Sara met in New York City and have dedicated themselves with passion and intensity to Argentine Tango. Trained primarily by Diego DiFalco, Pablo Pugliese and Natalia Hills, and also drawing from many other influences, such as Jorge Torres, Roberto Herrera, Guillermina Quiroga, Gabriel Misse, Carlitos Perez and Raul Bravo, together they are among the youngest and most recognized teachers and performers in the world of Argentine Tango. As instructors, they have developed a modern systemic approach to teaching traditional tango. Their goal as teachers is to instill strong fundamentals by emphasizing technique, analytical thinking, logic, naturalness and comfort in both the close and open embrace. Ivan and Sara encourage students to look for connection, quality of movement, creative expression and musicality to make their dance uniquely their own.

After living for 7 years in United States and Argentina, Ivan and Sara are currently based in Europe, and in addition to being members of the prestigious company ‘Tangueros del Sur’ directed by Natalia Hills, they have recently performed with ‘Tangox2’ and ‘Miguel Zotto in Concert’ directed by Miguel Angel Zotto, ‘Obsesion Tango’ directed by Tamara Bisceglia, and ‘Compania Roberto Herrera’ directed by Roberto Herrera. She is a member of that most rare group of DJs, the ones who consistently deliver hard dance-able music while introducing their audience to the history of the music one song a time. She blends in the classics of the Mambo and Fania era seamlessly to the hottest new releases without missing a beat. DJ Willy
DJ Willy aka The Viper
'There are more bad djs making the wrong choices than bad music' should be one of his guidelines.

Acing the turntables since his 1997 gig at the Montecristo Café, Willy aka "The Viper," is now one of the time-tested master DJs of the city of Light, Paris. House DJ in several of Paris's hottest clubs, (formerly Barrio Latino, Balajo, The Djoon Club, O'Sullivans and Les Etoiles), Willy also sets the beat for several other parties and congresses in France and around the world. A founding member of the Parisian salsa collective Papas DJs, he became later on, one perfectly-balanced half of the Dance Angels team. Now Willy the Viper is following and extending his musical path of sharing good vibes like a lonesome beloved renagade Music wise, despite the fact that he's regularly booked to events dedicated to 'on-line dancers' or crossbody leaders, Viper enjoys spinning all type of styles for the dancers, from mambo, cha cha cha, guaguanco, son montuno, salsa clasica or dura to romantica, even cuban, or due to his caribbean background, bachata, zouk, kompa and kizomba-semba, the whole choice depending on the crowd and its taste.

"While not Dj-ing or dancing, I’m designing buildings, spaces and furniture in my hometown of Bucharest.

I started tango DJ-ing about five years ago, at the same time when I also started co-organizing our dear Sunday Milonga 7 O’Clock. I’ve always had an ear for searching and playing less-known but very nice music, and so I’ve immediately embraced the mission of bringing good tango music to the dancers.

My tango philosophy is simple: create a dancing flow! Most people come to the milonga with dancing in mind, and even for the ones that don’t, a nice, fresh, and musical tanda will make anybody get up off their seat and dance.

Although I think my journey is still in its early years, besides playing in regular milongas in Bucharest, I have been invited to DJ in both local and international tango events, few of the highlights being: 2013 Grand Milonga with Show of Max Van de Voorde & Solange Acosta, 2013 Grand Milonga with Show of Sebastian Arce y Mariana Montes. (TangoOn Focus Bucharest.), 2014 Tango Chronicles - Ezequiel Farfaro y Andreea Trascu. (Bucharest, Romania), 2015 Dublin Tango Marathon (Dublin, Ireland)"

Raúl Navalpotro
Raúl Navalpotro
Raúl has been dancing for more than 10 years. His beginnings were with Latin dances, but discovering the unparalleled level of finesse and depth of Argentine Tango shortly after, he devoted his time and effort almost exclusively to it.

His mastery of tango, his presence and precision have their origin in the two years he lived in Buenos Aires, dedicated exclusively and intensively to the dance, studying with more than 100 internationally renowned maestros.

Since then, he has been constantly training and exploring tango (& other dances) all over the world, with the objective to truly understand its essence and to continuously improve.

In his shows, which are always improvised, Raúl aims at establishing a deep connection with his partner, and focuses on the clarity and musicality of their movements rather than going for the most theatrical effect.

His philosophy aligns with the famous quote by Saint-Exupery: “Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.”

He continues to travel extensively, exchanging ideas and experiences with dancers and maestros at marathons, festivals and milongas around the world. He has performed at traditional milongas and at big events, with live orchestras (including in a video-clip), and has been fortunate to work with great partners, including:

Jessica Arfenoni (AR World Champion 2014), Sofia Saborido (AR), Adeline Ireland (DE), Stefanie Clausen (DE), Delphine Blanco (FR), Kseniya Chichaeva (RUS), Ekaterina Koptelova (RUS), Sabina Seiler (CH), Rui Saito (JP), Andreea Trascu (RO)

First time Raúl took Swing classes was in Buenos Aires, in 2010, focusing in Lindy Hop. After that, also took some classes in other big cities like Berlin, Madrid, Paris, and like it should be, in Herräng.

Also took part in a Exchange project between some tango and swing teachers from Berlin, where the idea was to teach each other the dance they know.

Thanks to this, his knowledge in tango and other latin dances, Raúl began giving Lindy Hop classes to "tangueros" in different countries, until he began giving workshops and regular classes in Bucharest.

In History of a lost Love Dance Festival 2016 you will be hearing his Argentine Tango music with Swing breaks during Friday Milonga and his Swing music played for Lindy Hop & Charleston dancers on Saturday evening.

"I am a musical spirit and I express myself thorugh dance. I spent most of my childhood in Moscow studying ballet and piano. I am sure that is the reason why people think I am Russian, or Pablo Veron asked me if I am a ballet dancer.

Being a Tango DJ came for me very natural. It was like it was written in my genetic code and was supposed to happened! In May 2012, after a great Tango festival, the dancer inside me suddenly evolved. Because I haven't been asked to dance so much since then, I wanted to quit Tango but I couldn't because it would of mean to give up myself. Then I discovered this Tango DJ side of me, which allows me to continue to taste the Tango world.

The way I play music in Tango events is enriched also by my experience as psichotherapist and I connect myself at the group energy of those who dance, to feel what they need, adapting the music to the energy on the floor."

Ioana Lupescu
“I am a human being that God created for special purposes, the same He created all of us. This answer could appear strange for many people because normally somebody would answer: I am a teacher, or a dancer or a mother or something else similar but I think like this. What I learnt in this life: dancing, teaching, marketing whatever I did in previous times, helps me to achieve my goals and my reason for living and give other people happiness.

I have studied many things and i worked as an economist and I use this now, in managing my own school.
I studied to be a trainer and a judge which helps me to have the profession I love and I studied dance which helps me to LIVE.
I started to dance since I was a child: ballet, traditional dances but I fell inlove at first sight for Ballroom dressess and the way girls seemed to float on dancefloor. I started to dance Ballroom 18 years ago, and I had my ups and downs, winning national and international competitions and loosing, going through hard times of phisical and mentally recovery after accidents, but this never stopped me from dreaming and dancing. Mihai & Elwira Petre and Raluca Ivan are a big part of my recovery and what I know now and i cherish Calin Panainte for what he taught me in the past few years. Is all about LIFE.
I graduated National Trainers School in 2009 and I had my exams to be a judge also in 2010. As a dancer you only see one “part” of the dance but as a judge you complete yourself and study different.
I started to dance Salsa as a hobby in 2001 because of my friends. I was a very proud of myself as a Ballroom dancer so I couldn’t accept other opinions. But I discovered later that Salsa & Bachata can bring me a new perspective over Life and music and dance. Pedro Gomez & Jorjet Alcocer have been some of the teachers who marqued my beginnings in this Latin world.
Argentine Tango I discovered it in 2010 because a friend of mine was telling me stories about his dance classess with his teacher, which, in time, became my teacher and one of my best friends and best people I work with: Lucian Stan. His style of teaching is unique and brings emotions and sensations into technique, more then anybody else I know.
In 2014 I fell in love with Lindy Hop for the way fun is integrated into dance. Together with Swing Dance Society Brasov, I started taking lessons and soon I have been invited by them to collaborate for growing the Lindy Hop community in Bucharest also."
